On National Chocolate Éclair Day (June 22), Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts launched its first-ever global éclair program in partnership with award-winning Pastry Chef Johnny Iuzzini. As part of the brand’s new culinary initiative, Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts worldwide invite guests to indulge in a variety of modern twists on the chic Parisian treat, including both classic flavours as well as unique creations inspired by the destination. As part of the programme, Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa offers modern takes on three signature éclair recipes – coffee, chocolate and vanilla – as well as locally inspired flavours.

To commemorate the launch of Le Méridien éclairs, Le Méridien hotels globally are hosting on-property events, programs and special offerings highlighting the delectable French treat, from do-it-yourself (DIY) tutorials with on-property Pastry Chefs to regular éclair hours for guests to sample seasonal creations.

Health & Safety Week

As in previous years, Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa in Balluta Bay has organised a very successful Health & Safety week, with an array of interesting related activities spread out between the 10th and the 15th of October 2011.
The Health & Safety committee of the hotel, led by Health & Safety Manager Joseph Zammit, has once again come up with great initiatives primarily aimed at offering a safer workplace to the hotel’s employees. This series of events is strongly encouraged by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, the mother company of Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa. During the week, talks on various themes were organised: manual food handling, health & safety at the workplace, the importance of recycling waste, etc. Workshops for Le Méridien associates were also put together to present subjects such as food handler’s training and HACCP training.

“It was a very rewarding and eventful week” states Joseph Zammit who instigated the full organisation of the week. “We had a great turn-out to most of the events and an even better feed-back! Le Méridien St Julians will be celebrating World Tourism Day together with Malta Tourism Authority and with the rest of the world, on Monday 27th of September. The World Tourism Organisation and the United Nations have highlighted a great theme this year: “Tourism and Biodiversity”. This theme was chosen in order to bring more awareness towards the conservation of the world’s fragile biodiversity systems in the oceans, on land and in the skies.

EOSE President praises fitness facilities

Officials of the European Observatoire of Sport Employment (EOSE) were recently in Malta to view local sports facilities and discuss employment opportunities with the Malta Sport Council, the Malta Exercise Health & Fitness Association (MEHFA) and the Malta Qualifications Council.

The delegation, which stayed at Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa, was shown around the major sporting facilities on the island by Gino Schiavone, President of MEHFA, and were given detailed information by the Malta Sport Council on the local sports set-up and how associations like MEHFA work to provide the right competencies for the industry to promote employment.

Commenting on the hotel’s leisure facilities, EOSE President Stephen Studd said: “This is a very professional set-up, with a busy gym – a reflection of the excellent customer care this facility provides.”

The event evoked an enthusiastic response from all attendees, who came together to explore the new beauty elixir and the alluring fragrance, and to learn about the latest discoveries in beauty secrets.

Guerlain unveiled its most popular seasonal line of cosmetics - the Terracotta 4 Seasons Tailor-made Bronzing powder collection, creams and make-up, ideal for all seasons.

RAMBO VC Commander in Malta

On the 5th, 6th and 7th March, martial artists and movie buffs are in for a treat at Le Meridien St Julians Hotel & Spa in Malta. Indeed, fans of martial arts will have the pleasure of meeting and training with Grandmaster Stephen M.D. Chang, during the “Martial Arts and Hollywood Secret Stunts” workshops happening throughout the week-end at the 5 star property in St Julians.

Grandmaster Stephen M.D. Chang is one of the top Hollywood martial artists/stunt coordinator/actors gracing the business. He took part in more than eighty-eight movies and TV productions including the award winning ‘Double Happiness’ (1994), 'X-Files' and 'The Legend Continues'.
