A TOUCH OF NATURE

Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa presents digital artist John Hicks with the exhibition A Touch of Nature on display from the 8th of August and throughout the month, in the reception area of the hotel in Balluta Bay.

Artist John Hicks was born in 1986 in Leicestershire, England. As a young digital creator, he received his B.A. from De Montfort University in his hometown and attended the Post-Graduate program in painting at the Newtown College in Wales, before settling down in Malta in 2012.
In college, Hicks produced tonal drawings, acrylics, oils, alcohol markers and sculptures of still life in clay, bolster and wood. He also experimented with character portraits and busts. A great portion of his time was already dedicated to product design.

Days to Come, by John Hicks

Throughout his university years, Hicks studied computer games art and design. During this period, he pursued his talents to a deeper technical knowledge and transitioned into innovative tools to keep up with the ever-changing face of the art scene.

John Hick has worked in the media industry and practiced his art with passion for most of his life. In 2012, he landed on our archipelago and has since participated to two joined exhibitions at the Mona Lisa Lounge in Valletta. For both exhibitions, he displayed digital art pieces of various styles.

Indeed, Hicks does not keep his style pinned down to one type and his interest was triggered by many different artists throughout the years. Quite naturally, he draws a lot of his inspiration from the game and the movie industries. Fine works of art and nature is another source for his original vision. Great names of new era artists spark his creativity, such as Chris Foss, H. R. Giger, Salvador Dali, Gustav Klimt and Leonardo da Vinci.

John Hicks will be displaying his art at Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa from the 8th of August onwards with a solo exhibition: A Touch of Nature. Hotel guests and visitors alike are welcome to admire his creations in the lobby of the hotel on level 3 throughout the month of August. The event is curated by Mr. Joe Hamilton M.B.E, A.I.L (London).
