The Sweet Sound of Christmas

If you are not yet muttering famous Christmas tunes, you can count on Le Méridien's Christmas portfolio to feed your imagination and leave you craving for the upcoming festive season.

This year, the hospitality team of Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa in Balluta Bay has built its Christmas outlook around the unifying theme of music. A heartening choice that offers the great faculty of gathering crowds, whilst leaving the hotel ample space to elaborate their menus and Christmas decoration in an enchanting, yet captivating way. Here, the usual Christmas functions promise to deploy into perfect “orchestrations” and each piece of the concept pledges to be a vibrant medley of Christmas memories.

This year for us, music is key”, explains Melissa Caruana, Marketing Executive at Le Méridien St Julians. “We have chosen and developed our concept around this theme for the simple reason that we could still offer our patrons the traditional spirit that is expected for Christmas events, but it would also allow us to take it to a whole different level. The idea was very well received in all departments involved. Our creative kitchen brigade came up with menus articulated around famous musicals and inspiring quotes related to the vast world of music. Our Christmas brochure itself was designed with our theme in mind and each word was chosen carefully, to transport our clients to an inviting world from their selection process to the event itself.”

Starwood Preferred Guest: Best in Class

Turn a night out in Malta into a free night abroad

Starwood Preferred Guest® is the loyalty programme of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, the mother company of Le Méridien. Whereas before the SPG programme was only rewarding his members for accommodation charges, it is now extending this scheme to the restaurants of participating properties such as Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa in Balluta Bay. The hotel goes one step further, not only by giving its loyal customers the possibility to earn Starpoints® in all of its bars and restaurants, but also by granting points to the third-party outlets making commerce in its premises. This is the first local loyalty scheme in terms of dining that also adds an international dimension to its redemption possibilities.

Le Méridien Wedding Showcase

A dedicated and experienced Wedding Team

With an impressive background in banqueting and wedding operations, Le Méridien’s Wedding Team truly excels when it comes to orchestrates a couple’s vision into a dream come true. Elyse Borg and Gilbert Xuereb – both part of Le Méridien's Wedding Team, continuously focus on the fact that each wedding is unique and should reflect the couples’ personalities - whether it’s a small seated wedding for 10 guests, or a grand reception for hundreds of invitees. “Weddings portray an intimate celebration”, states Elyse Borg, Events Manager. “When we meet a couple, our priority is to build a good relationship with them and take time to understand them. Ultimately, this is the most efficient way to learn how to anticipate their needs and organize their idea of the perfect wedding.” Her colleague Gilbert Xuereb underlines another essential factor: “There is a lot of stress on the couple before their big day and it is understandable. Our role is also to reassure them through the whole process and make them feel that they can trust us. We strive to minimize the pressure that weights on the bridal couple and their families. For the Wedding to be a success, we need them to feel at ease. And seeing couples fully enjoy their big day with their loved ones is the greatest professional satisfaction we can ever achieve.

An event not to be missed
Throughout the years, Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa has kept on building on a solid reputation in terms of wedding services. After the success of the previous editions, Le Méridien Wedding Team felt it necessary to answer to the increasing flow of wedding queries. They are keeping the tradition going by putting together yet again another showcase weekend dedicated to couples seeking advice and inspiration for the organisation of their special day. Le Méridien 3rd consecutive Wedding Showcase will open its doors on Saturday 20th of October and on Sunday 21st of October with what promises to be a great interactive weekend for brides and grooms to be.

Le Méridien Sunday Lunch: a Winning Formula

Why change a winning formula? Well, Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa didn't. The Scirocco Restaurant is once again hyped up with the coming-back of its popular Sunday Lunch. Prices remained unchanged. The bonuses and culinary twists too. For only Eur25.95 per person, guests may dig in one of the most appetizing Sunday buffet lunches available on the island. Friends and families are invited to embark on a savourous journey of antipasto and cold cuts, mouth-watering hot recipes, carvery wonders, delicious pasta dishes and scrumptious desserts.

Mastering typical Mediterranean specialities does not keep Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa from exploiting the overseas' classics with more northerly flavours. Following the success of the introduction of their signature Cheese Fondue last year, you will again be invited to dip the crunchiest french bread into an incomparable blend of the best melted cheeses. A great way to soothe post-summer blues and to warm up everybody's mood and stomach. Le Méridien boasts high quality standards in terms of cuisine, but they also commit into making sure that no one leaves the hotel's premises with a hunger. Freshness of produce, variety and abundance is the motto of their creative kitchen brigade, led with excellence by Executive Head Chef Reuben Grixti.

A FEAST OF FOOD

Festa Fridays at Le Méridien St Julians hotel & spa
Il-Pjazza outdoor restaurant opens its doors to a typical Maltese summer next week.

On Friday 8th of June, il-Pjazza – Le Méridien’s outdoor restaurant will officially open for the summer season and will once again celebrate the colourful ways of wining and dining in Malta with the come-back of its popular "FESTA FRIDAY". Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa in Balluta Bay invites his summer clientele to lay back in a typical set-up inspired by the Festa atmosphere that sprinkles the island throughout the summer months.

The name "il-Pjazza" was born quite naturally when the hotel launched this original venue last year. What better term could describe a typical gathering, at the heart of the village feasts in Malta?
Il-Pjazza is located on a wide terrace of the hotel’s premises (level 1) and opens every Friday for this much-awaited FESTA that is a delight for both Maltese patrons, who get the chance to indulge in each and every one of their favourite dishes, and for overseas visitors who can unveil the many culinary secrets of Malta’s cuisine all in one go.

ASSOCIATE FUNDRAISING FOR UNICEF

In support of Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ 5th annual associate fundraising campaign Road to Awareness, Le Méridien St Julians is organising a fun Car Wash and Car Boot Sale on Saturday 2nd June, in the outdoor parking in front of the hotel’s reception.

Le Meridien Malta for UnicefThis year’s ‘Road to Awareness’ campaign raises money for UNICEF’s Early Childhood Care and Education programme in Ethiopia. The aim of the project is to provide the most disadvantaged children in rural communities with pre-primary education so they are better prepared to start going to school. Indeed, in Ethiopia, over 80% of the population live in rural communities and many children have to survive on less than US$1 a day. A lack of education and no access to pre-school is seen as one of the key barriers to a child not being able to reach their full potential and escape a life of poverty.

The money raised through Starwood’s ‘Road to Awareness’ campaign - which includes local fundraising initiatives across hotels in Europe, Africa and the Middle East as well as an annual fundraising bike ride - will help tackle this by giving thousands of the most vulnerable children in Ethiopia access to pre-school and the chance of a brighter future. Starwood’s support will contribute to the construction of 10 pre-schools, provide pre-school education to up to 50,000 children aged six and enable UNICEF to train 10,000 young instructors to aide their learning.

A real Coup d’État for PRIMA TAZZA launch

A surprise Opera performance to portray the strong energizing feeling of a morning coffee cup!
A few months ago, Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa launched a creative committee called LM100Malta, with renowned members from various artistic disciplines. To kick off their programme of activities in style, the hotel organised an unusual morning event baptized PRIMA TAZZA, involving LM100Malta members Julian Calascione (Illy Coffee representative) and Marie-Therese Vassallo, from the Malta Cultural Institute. The event was aimed at reinforcing the Coffee Culture within the hotel, highlighting KuDéTa Bar & Lounge as being the ideal venue for all to enjoy their first and traditional cup of coffee of the day. With a great coffee supplier and breathtaking views over pretty Balluta Bay, the place has certainly a lot to offer to coffee lovers. Additionally, Le Méridien Management’s goal is to bring to life an inspiring environment in their public areas, in line with their Brand mission statement.

Hotel patrons, VIP guests, Starwood Preferred Guests members and local media personalities were invited to the PRIMA TAZZA launch which occurred at KuDéTa Lounge & Bar on Friday 27th of April at 8.30am. To further enhance this unique launch, the radio XFM 100.2 was broadcasting live from KuDéTa with presenter Steve Hili sharing entertaining comments about the surrounding activities during his popular Big Breakfast Show.

KuDéTa Lounge & Bar was indeed buzzing with a fun atmosphere, great marketing visuals from Illy Coffee and the morning chatter of the attendees. Several coffee stations were available for guests to treat themselves to their favourite Illy coffee cup, whilst Le Méridien kitchen went out of their way to present a breakfast reception, with delicious items ranging from apple turn-overs to the classic French croissants. Mood videos were being projected on a large screen and Julian Calascione, the representative of Illy Coffee in Malta, greeted the guests with a welcome speech about the coffee culture in general.
